Brooklyn's city hall of 1848, built in Tuckahoe marble to designs by Calvin Pollard and Gamaliel King, and the borough's seat of government since 1898.
History
A fire in 1895 destroyed the original cupola and its statue of Justice; a cast-iron cupola replaced them by 1898. Designated a New York City landmark on April 19, 1966 and listed on the National Register of Historic Places on January 10, 1980. A restoration was completed in 1989.
