Site of Gail Borden Jr.'s 1857 condensed-milk factory, vital to the Union Army and marked today by a bronze tablet. A sandy beach with roped-off swimming and seasonal lifeguard, canoe and kayak rentals, and the 2.5-mile Walcott Trail loop. Open daily 8 a.m.-sunset. Phone (860) 482-1817.
