Dyker Heights Christmas Lights

Attraction · Dyker Heights, New York

A seasonal tradition of elaborate home light and figure displays on private houses. The displays go up the weekend after Thanksgiving, peak from mid-December through New Year's, and are down by early January; there is nothing to see outside that window.

History

The tradition took shape in the 1980s and was popularised from 1985 by Lou Singer's bus tours. A remote segment for Late Night with Conan O'Brien followed in 2000, and a PBS documentary, Dyker Lights, in 2001.
