Fort Shantok (Shantok, Village of Uncas)
Historic site · Montville, Connecticut
Site of the principal Mohegan settlement 1636-1682 and sacred ground associated with sachem Uncas; designated the Fort Shantok Archaeological District, a National Historic Landmark, in 1993, and returned from state park ownership to Mohegan control in 1995. The Mohegan Tribe operates the grounds as a local park within the reservation.
