Gerritsen Beach Volunteer Fire Department
Historic site · Gerritsen Beach, New York
The Vollies, organized in 1922 after a damaging fire on Abbey Court the year before showed that the city's apparatus could not reach the peninsula fast enough. It is the last remaining volunteer fire department in Brooklyn and operates alongside FDNY Engine Company 321.
