Irish Hunger Memorial

Dedicated July 16, 2002, the memorial incorporates an authentic 19th-century stone cottage transported from County Mayo along with stones and soil from Ireland's western coast, commemorating the Great Hunger of 1845-1852 and the more than 900,000 Irish emigrants who arrived at the port of New York in the following decade.
