Palazzo Montevecchio Chiovenda

Historic site · Ponte, Lazio

A Renaissance palace on piazza di Montevecchio, which houses the Arciliuto.

History

it.wikipedia records that it was probably built for the counts, later dukes, of Montevecchio, a branch of the Gabrielli of Gubbio, and that it was finished around 1515. The design is attributed to Baldassarre Peruzzi without documentary certainty. The same article carries, as a tradition rather than as a fact, the story that Raphael first lodged here.
