Patsy's Pizzeria

A pizzeria that opened in 1933 in Italian Harlem, founded by Pasquale 'Patsy' Lancieri at 2287 First Avenue near East 117th Street. Lancieri is said to have learned his craft at Lombardi's coal oven, and the business claims to have originated selling pizza by the slice.

History

Lancieri died in the 1970s, and in 1991 his widow sold the pizzeria to Frank Brija, an Albanian immigrant from Kosovo, who trademarked the name and expanded it to more than twelve locations in New York. In 2019 a waiter returned a customer's lost cashier's check for $423,987.55. The pizzeria appeared on the Cooking Channel's 'Man v. Food' in 2020, and in 2024 its storefront facade was recreated as a film set in England for 'A Quiet Place: Day One.'
