Sandy Point Beach & Bird Sanctuary
Park · West Haven, Connecticut
Designated an Important Bird Area by Audubon Connecticut in 2003, hosting piping plovers, American oystercatchers, least terns, common terns and sharp-tailed sparrows in the adjacent tidal marsh. Boston Globe Magazine ranked it among New England's best beaches in 2018 for birding, fishing and trails; trained Audubon Wildlife Guards monitor nesting sites in season.
