Shenipsit State Forest (Somers section)

A 7,170-acre state forest centered on Soapstone Mountain, with an observation tower giving views across the region. Somers's Bald Mountain, at 1,121 feet, is the highest point along the Connecticut River Valley in Connecticut. Free, open daily; no camping or ground fires.
