Sherwood Island State Park

Connecticut's first state park, spanning 235 acres with a mile-long Long Island Sound beach, a seasonal nature center, disc golf, and the state's 9/11 Living Memorial. Open daily, 8 a.m. to sunset.
History
The state acquired the first land here in 1914; the park fully opened to the public only after a 23-year battle with resisting landowners.
