Fort Griswold Monument

Site of the September 6, 1781 Battle of Groton Heights, where Benedict Arnold's British force killed 88 of 165 American defenders; the 135-foot granite Groton Monument obelisk and a museum in the restored Ebenezer Avery House mark the site. Grounds open year-round sunrise to sunset; museum and monument open Wed-Sun 9-5, Memorial Day to Labor Day.
