Submarine Force Library and Museum
Museum · Groton, Connecticut
The Navy's own submarine museum, beside Naval Submarine Base New London on the Thames, built around USS Nautilus — the world's first nuclear-powered submarine. Some 33,000 artifacts cover submarine history, from a replica of Bushnell's Turtle to captured Japanese midget submarines. Whether Nautilus herself is open for boarding varies, so check before you drive out.
