Lockwood-Mathews Mansion Museum

A 62-room Second Empire mansion built 1864-1868 for NYSE Treasurer LeGrand Lockwood at a reported cost of nearly $2 million; designated a National Historic Landmark in 1971. Guided house tours Wednesday-Sunday at 12, 1, and 2 p.m. (the 3 p.m. slot is exhibits-only), March 12-December 31, with reduced winter days.

History

Built 1864-1868 for financier and New York Stock Exchange Treasurer LeGrand Lockwood; The New York Times reported in 1867 that construction cost nearly two million dollars.
