Muzzy Field
Historic site · Bristol, Connecticut
Land donated in 1912 by Adrian Muzzy; the ballpark opened July 8, 1914 with backing from the New Departure manufacturing company. Babe Ruth homered here in 1919 before nearly five thousand spectators, and the field later hosted the Bristol Owls, the Bristol Red Sox and the Green Bay Packers in 1943. The Bristol Blues collegiate baseball team now plays here, and the Historical Society has hosted vintage 1864-rules games since 2018.
