A Wildlife Conservation Society aquarium that opened at this Coney Island address on June 6, 1957, having begun at Castle Garden in Battery Park in 1896. Wikipedia describes it as the oldest continually operating aquarium in the United States.
History
Hurricane Sandy damaged the aquarium in October 2012, and it did not fully reopen from those repairs until July 2022.
