History
The block was previously occupied by the Centrale del Latte di Roma and the Caserma Sani, formerly the Caserma Pepe. mercatidiroma.com records a first re-organisation of the market in 1913. The open-air stalls that had stood on piazza Vittorio Emanuele II since the 1890s were cleared in October 2001.
