Mitreo di Felicissimo
Historic site · Ostia Antica, Lazio
A mithraeum whose mosaic floor carries a krater, a flaming altar and two Phrygian caps, with a corridor mosaic of seven panels alluding to the grades of initiation and the planets attached to them.
History
Installed in the second half of the third century AD inside an earlier building. An eighth panel carries the inscription naming Felicissimus, who built it.
