Piazza dell'Indipendenza

Historic site · Castro Pretorio, Lazio

The square of the quarter laid out after 1870, named for the Italian wars of independence like the streets around it.

History

Italian Wikipedia records that Piazza dell'Indipendenza belongs to the quarter built after 1870 and was named for the Italian wars of independence, as were the streets around it, and that Via Solferino crosses it with Via Goito and Via dei Mille. Turismo Roma also carries a page for the square. Five buildings on it are written up separately in this guide: the Palazzo dei Marescialli, the Villino Centurini, the Villino Semiradski, the Palazzo della Federconsorzi and the Palazzo del Corriere dello Sport.
