Piazza Farnese

Historic site · Regola, Lazio

The square in front of Palazzo Farnese, paved from 1545, with eight streets and alleys running into it. The buildings on it are Palazzo Farnese, the church of Santa Brigida with its convent, Palazzo Fusconi Pighini, and Palazzo Mandosi Mignanelli at the vicolo de' Venti corner, which takes its name from a family and not from wind.

History

The square was used for tournaments, bullfights, popular festivals and the summer floodings that later became an attraction of piazza Navona.
