Durham Public Library

A direct descendant of the 1733 Durham Book Company, with 39 volumes from that original collection in its local history collection. Voted into being in 1894, it opened its first purpose-built home in 1902, expanded in 1985 and 1997, and completed an interior renovation in 2023. Open Monday–Thursday 9 a.m.–8 p.m., Friday–Saturday 10 a.m.–5 p.m.
