An obelisk of red Aswan granite on piazza di San Giovanni in Laterano: 32.18 metres of shaft, 45.70 metres with its cross and base, and 455 tonnes.

History

Roma Capitale places its making under Thutmose III and Thutmose IV, in the fifteenth century BC. Constantine had it brought down the Nile to Alexandria; the transport was interrupted by his death in 337.
