The square on the Aventine crest onto which the priory of the Sovereign Military Order of Malta, its church of Santa Maria del Priorato and the abbey of Sant'Anselmo all open. Turismo Roma's Aventine itinerary begins here.
History
Turismo Roma credits the square's present appearance to Giovanni Battista Piranesi, who designed the piazza in front of the priory alongside his work on the church, commissioned in 1764 by Cardinal Giovanni Battista Rezzonico.
