Sound Coffee

A cafe and coffee roastery founded by Jeff and Sarah, who began home-roasting more than a decade ago on an eBay popcorn popper after Jeff was given green coffee beans as a Christmas present, and took the operation from garage roasting through Connecticut farmers markets into a specialty coffee company. The Black Rock cafe at 2889 Fairfield Avenue is open daily 7 a.m. to 4 p.m.; the roastery is separate, at 2040 Main Street. The business also sells wholesale, runs an online subscription and does mobile coffee-cart catering.
